It’s My Birthday!

Happy Birthday to me! Miss Penny Speaking. I am two years old, in human terms fourteen. I’ve heard references to the terrible twos or turbulent teens. Well, not sure I like either of those because there is nothing terrible about me, I’m a princess and what does turbulent mean? Not me! I’m a cute, charming birthday princess… I don’t say this often but I’m a dog and at two years old I’m all grown up. I am, after all, Susan’s assistant so human age references do not count. No party but I had treats, steak for supper and a new ball. The ball is so much fun; it bounces in the air and I can chase it, although it rolls under things, especially the vanity in the bathroom. I can’t get it out so I whine, then I giggle as Susan gets the umbrella, closed of course, and gets on the floor, butt in the air, not very elegant—hee, hee, but funny—she sweeps the brolly under the vanity and bingo out comes the ball; within minutes it rolls back under. Too many time and it stays there. Whining doesn’t always work.

Susan had another busy week, so I didn’t have a party which was disappointing, but I forgive her, because some exciting things have happened. She has been invited to speak at a hospital fundraiser in Winchester, there was a book signing at Coles yesterday and a new article for Ottawa Book Expo. I am very proud even if I didn’t a birthday party and I didn’t mention being left alone all day. I might have to go and chew the cushion—love that while fluffy stuff.
