A Doggie Senses Dictionary!

A doggie senses dictionary, Miss Penny Speaking. Magic powers, that’s what doggie senses are. I can smell and hear a thousand times better than Susan, hum… maybe not a thousand but a lot. Just this morning I’m curled up in bed waiting for Susan to make the coffee, morning coffee time is cuddle time, when I hear the rustle of a garbage bag. I leap out of bed (such a shock to my system) because garbage bag rustle means

I can sense everything!

Susan is heading to the garbage shoot and if I’m fast; I get to run down the hall. I used to follow Susan, but now I’m lazy and wait for the signs. Footsteps on the step into the living room means either she’s going to the balcony or just to relax in her chair. When she goes the other way towards the bathroom I can stay put unless I hear the drawer on the bathroom vanity, then I panic because she’s putting makeup on and you know what that means? She’s going out. The phone is a bit complicated, there’s one ring that means someone is at the door, ‘Come on up!’ means we have visitors. Now, I have to admit that there are a couple of things that have me very confused. We don’t get many visitors because this corona thing is still going on but sometimes people I know appear in the laptop, but I can’t detect any scent, which throws me off a bit. I hear voices. A few days ago, I was snoozing and I heard Rose’s voice, but she’s nowhere to be seen. Susan picked me up and there she was, in a little box on the screen with other people I don’t know. The next day, I was having a cuddle on Susan’s knee and Nancy’s voice boomed from the laptop and there she was in a little box. There is some magic going on and it’s not just my doggie dictionary.  Oh, here’s the evil eye I’m supposed to tell you what Susan’s been up to. The writing is coming along, Heart of Sophie’s War is up to 10,000 words, Sophie is already in trouble and in danger of being sent home because she was being kind to a shell shocked soldier. Sister Drew is a nasty piece of work. Hee, hee, that’s got you wondering. Good news, at the rate Susan is writing you might be reading this by January.

May I suggest you read Prelude to Sophie’s War while you wait for the sequel – London 1915, German Zeppelin attacks are not the only thing Sophie battles at Bartley Hospital. Will her courage be enough to keep her sane and alive?
