Life threatening walks, Miss Penny speaking. Susan thinks I haven’t noticed our short walks this week. She’s busy with her books again, this time she’s compiling Lavender Cottage into a box set. We’ve had crazy weather here in Ottawa, two big snow storms, freezing rain, regular rain, fog and blustery winds and some walks have been life threatening. Okay, that might be a bit dramatic, but being buried by wet sloppy snow, is dramatic. We were walking along Carling Avenue (that’s the short walk) and first a bus goes by and almost blasts me off my feet and you know what I think about those monsters, but that was nothing to what happened next. First a loud rumbling and then whoosh we are covered in wet snow as this enormous snowplough goes by. Susan should complain to the city, I could have been buried alive. It didn’t slow down or apologize, (I guess it’s not Canadian) it just barrelled along leaving piles of dirty, sloppy wet snow on the sidewalk and me in the middle. Thankfully, Susan picked me up and we quickly retreated back to the driveway. That was the shortest walk of the week and I am a bit miffed. I like my walks to the park to meet my four legged friends and the sniffing is better in the park. Oh here comes the evil eye, Susan says to stop feeling sorry for myself, she will take me to the park today. That’s nice but I can sulk a bit. As I said Susan has been busy (less cuddles for me). Lavender Cottage Box Set, has a nice cover and will be ready by the next blog. Heart of Sophie’s War is motoring along, Sophie is reflecting on her purpose and what she can do to relieve the suffering from war nerves/shell shock. Her reflections include personal feeling.
