A Tale of Squirrels

A tale of squirrels, Miss Penny speaking. Hee-hee, get it tale, tail? The princess is being clever today, so here’s the tale. Squirrels drive me crazy, they are fluffy, fast and fascinating but I have yet to catch one. They are about the

same size as my pink baby, but not pink, if you’re seeing pink squirrels you might want to ease up on the wine, squirrels are grey or black. Like pink baby I could hold one in my mouth without hurting it, of course. Unlike my pink baby the squirrels are alive and run around playing but they never invite me to play. I

stand very still and watch, studying them figuring out how I can join them. Once they see me they stop playing, sit up and watch me, the cheek of it! Tails twitch as do their whiskers and they hold nuts in their paws and ignore me, that’s an insult to the princess. At least they could share but no they nibble away. I concentrate very hard and plan my move. Boom! I make a run for it, but alas my leash isn’t long enough and then it takes me a minute to get my breath as I choke. I give Susan a cross look; she’s on the other end of the leash. Get this…. Susan is

Help me? I need to climb this tree.

laughing. If the squirrels would stay on the ground I’d have a chance but the devious little creatures leap up trees. Now, I don’t think this is fair game because they leave me at the bottom. I’ve tried but I can’t get the hang of climbing a tree and Susan’s no help, at least she could show me how to climb a tree. Psst! I’m having a chuckle, can you imagine Susan climbing a tree. Perhaps not!  All I can do is watch and learn as the squirrels play and perhaps one day they will let me play. Oh, here come the evil eye, we have a few writing things to say today.
