My Pink Baby!

I love my pink baby, Miss Penny speaking. I have no idea why it is called a baby. I’m guessing Susan gave it that name. Picture one is getting ready for bed, it always comes to bed with us and Susan teases me and hides it under the covers. She gets quite snippy if I put it on her pillow, while she gets ready for bed. I get this look, it’s supposed to chastise, I don’t pay attention. Then, she picks it up with her fingers, as though it’s going to bite or something and throws my poor baby on my pillow (yes, I have my own pillow) and says it’s dirty and smelly. It’s not smelly. It has a well-chewed aroma. There have been comments about it being washed. Now that will upset me, I might have to chew a shoe or throw-up on the bed if she does that. Oh, and you may notice my flowing coat or overflowing coat, we haven’t been to the groomers yet.

Not much going on here, we’re still isolated and this corona thing is still hovering over us. Susan had to cancel her trip to the UK for her Mum’s 100th. I know she’s sad, but psst! I’m not because I miss her when she’s gone. As far as writing is concerned nothing new, Susan is in the thinking phase. That means she has lots of ideas percolating in her head. She’s still writing the romance, but I have a feeling something big is coming. Well folks, humans and canines, that’s it for this week. Happy reading and if you have a minute, go check out the new cover for The Blue Pendant, Susan says more changes are coming.

Oatmeal and Yogurt!

Sticky Ears

What do you think of my photo? Miss Penny speaking, I look pretty wild, you’ll notice I have oatmeal and yogurt in my ears. Oh yes, and I’m chewing one of Susan’s socks. I can be a picky eater, and then Susan worries I’m getting sick. She says yogurt is good for my tummy. Psst! I play on it a bit. If I don’t eat, she gives me really nice stuff like yogurt, but I only like it with maple syrup. And the oatmeal, well, oatmeal I can take it or leave it, if it’s warm it’s okay. I do like warm food, especially gravy, I don’t get that often. The sloppy stuff gets in my ears and chin, especially while my coat is so long. I can tell by Susan’s face that I’m a mess, I don’t care; it smells good and sometimes there’s a snack tucked

At my best!

away at the end of my ears. It’s awkward to get to though. Here’s a message to my canine friends, I hear this corona thing is easing a bit and the groomers are allowed to open, so you know what that means, baths and clippers. No more flowing fur, not that mine is flowing, it’s kind of tangled and lumpy and hurts a bit where the knots pull, Susan tries to brush but I resist. I thought I’d never admit this, but I am looking forward to a bath and a hair cut. Susan wants one too, but I’m not sure she’d fit in Joni’s tub and she is definitely too big for the grooming table. Have you ever noticed that humans only have hair on their heads – strange, very strange!  Susan is in design mode, designing new covers for her books, a bit of writing is happening, not that much. The latest Katie story is progressing slowly and I see scribbles for a new historical novel. Now that is exciting. Well, folks, humans and canines, that’s it for this week. Stay safe enjoy the long weekend and read lots of books, particularly Susan’s books. The Blue Pendant Book 1 of the Sackville Hotel Trilogy will be on sale on Amazon in a few days.

Zooming!

As you know I’m a dog, sort of and when it suits me, Miss Penny speaking. Now, I’m a smart dog, we all know that. I can’t talk, not yet at least, but one day I’ll surprise Susan and answer her. Hee! Wouldn’t that be fun? Okay, back to my point. It’s the word zoom that has me confused. I am known to zoom around the park, zoom up a tree following squirrels, well not quite I get stuck at the bottom. The cars zoom by on Carling Avenue and Susan zooms into me when she’s taking pictures. Here’s my question, how can Susan have a zoom meeting? That’s what she’s doing today, having a Zoom meeting with the Historical Writing Ladies. No, they don’t zoom down the road nor do they zoom in the park and they certainly don’t chase squirrels up a tree; mind you, there’s a thought, they are taller than me and might catch a squirrel. I can’t say I’ve ever seen Susan climb a tree. However, pictures are involved because their pictures appear on Susan’s laptop; moving talking pictures. Now, this is very disconcerting. I know these ladies; they come to the house and drink tea, eat cakes and talk about writing, which involves petting me and sharing the cake with me. Do you see what I’m saying? If they are inside Susan’s laptop, Zooming, I can hear them but I don’t get petted and I don’t get cake. Does this have something to do with the corona thing? I guess so, Susan is nodding yes and it is time to tell you what she’s been up to this week.

The Amazon ad thing continues and that’s getting boring. But, this is exciting, Susan has designed a new cover for The Blue Pendant and if her readers like it she’ll redesign the other covers for the Sackville Hotel Trilogy (she already did a new cover for the box set). My parting wish today is for mothers, my own mom lives in Quebec.

So here’s a big Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers.

This Corona Thing!!

She bathed me!

It’s getting to me, this corona thing, Miss Penny Speaking. Until now it has been great Susan stays at home writing away, I get lots of cuddles and some very interesting conversations. Psst! I am an intelligent dog, almost human, but there are times I am not quite sure what she’s saying but as I’m not expected to answer it’s okay and the keywords for me are the names of the people I love and walk, dinner, treat and come-on-up. The last word is usually spoken when we have visitors. However, because of this corona thing we don’t have visitors. The other day one of my very favourite people knocked on the door. I knew Sheila was behind the door; I heard her voice. A conversation continued with Susan, but the door stayed closed. Then, now I’m all excited, the door opened slightly, not even enough for me to squeeze through and

I know you’re there!

I’m pretty good at nipping out, but not this time. An envelope passed through the crack and poof the door was shut again. Now that is not fair! And another thing, Susan said I was getting smelly, I thought I smelled good, a proper doggy smell, (I kind of waffle between canine and human, whichever suits me at the time). Her constant comments that I was stinky should have clued me in that I was destined for a bath. Sure enough, in the sink I go, no point in wriggling away as Susan catches me every time, so I put up with it. Now Susan cuddles me and tells me I smell nice. I miss my friends and family and I know we all do. I will be glad when this corona thing is over.

Susan has had some success from her new Amazon ads and you will notice a new cover for the trilogy, one of my favourite people, Rose, helped her, over the computer so I didn’t get to visit. I miss Rose too.

Sqirrly, Squirrels & Spring

Where to start with a title like that? Miss Penny speaking. I’ve noticed that this lockdown, because of the corona thing, is causing my two legged friends to get a bit testy, hence the word squirrly. I’m told by the author is not a word, but I’m a dog so, to the grammar police, its doggy language. It also reminds me of squirrels, and there are a lot of them as we get into spring—even spring is debatable. I saw flakes of snow this week, plus a cold wind that blows right through my fur and I have a long thick coat right now. Hm, we’ve not been to the groomers for a while, close because of this corona thing. Gees, it is making life difficult. Back to squirrels. My walks are exciting as I watch the squirrels play. I try to chase them through the trees. Did you know a squirrel can run up a tree in a flash? I tried following by standing on my hind legs and leaping at the tree, nothing happens and I fall over.  Susan laughs, very embarrassing. Hm, let’s change the subject and see what Susan has been up to this week.

Well, she is very squirrly, not from the corona thing but learning how to advertise on Amazon. I don’t understand this but it requires, scraping data, spreadsheets and thousands of keywords, that’s definitely a perfect definition for squirrly. Susan tells me that Amazon is not shipping her print books, so she needs to sell more ebooks to buy my kibble and chicken. What? Yes, I have fresh cooked chicken breast for my breakfast and supper. I know I’m spoilt but then remember I’m an adorable little dog. Psst! If you’d like to have a copy of one of Susan’s nine books, try Book Depository, or Contact Susan or click on the links below. I like my chicken and having to eat plain dry kibble or, ‘shudder’, canned food doesn’t bare thinking about. Love you all, Stay safe Miss Penny and Susan.
