My Pink Baby!

I love my pink baby, Miss Penny speaking. I have no idea why it is called a baby. I’m guessing Susan gave it that name. Picture one is getting ready for bed, it always comes to bed with us and Susan teases me and hides it under the covers. She gets quite snippy if I put it on her pillow, while she gets ready for bed. I get this look, it’s supposed to chastise, I don’t pay attention. Then, she picks it up with her fingers, as though it’s going to bite or something and throws my poor baby on my pillow (yes, I have my own pillow) and says it’s dirty and smelly. It’s not smelly. It has a well-chewed aroma. There have been comments about it being washed. Now that will upset me, I might have to chew a shoe or throw-up on the bed if she does that. Oh, and you may notice my flowing coat or overflowing coat, we haven’t been to the groomers yet.

Not much going on here, we’re still isolated and this corona thing is still hovering over us. Susan had to cancel her trip to the UK for her Mum’s 100th. I know she’s sad, but psst! I’m not because I miss her when she’s gone. As far as writing is concerned nothing new, Susan is in the thinking phase. That means she has lots of ideas percolating in her head. She’s still writing the romance, but I have a feeling something big is coming. Well folks, humans and canines, that’s it for this week. Happy reading and if you have a minute, go check out the new cover for The Blue Pendant, Susan says more changes are coming.

Oatmeal and Yogurt!

Sticky Ears

What do you think of my photo? Miss Penny speaking, I look pretty wild, you’ll notice I have oatmeal and yogurt in my ears. Oh yes, and I’m chewing one of Susan’s socks. I can be a picky eater, and then Susan worries I’m getting sick. She says yogurt is good for my tummy. Psst! I play on it a bit. If I don’t eat, she gives me really nice stuff like yogurt, but I only like it with maple syrup. And the oatmeal, well, oatmeal I can take it or leave it, if it’s warm it’s okay. I do like warm food, especially gravy, I don’t get that often. The sloppy stuff gets in my ears and chin, especially while my coat is so long. I can tell by Susan’s face that I’m a mess, I don’t care; it smells good and sometimes there’s a snack tucked

At my best!

away at the end of my ears. It’s awkward to get to though. Here’s a message to my canine friends, I hear this corona thing is easing a bit and the groomers are allowed to open, so you know what that means, baths and clippers. No more flowing fur, not that mine is flowing, it’s kind of tangled and lumpy and hurts a bit where the knots pull, Susan tries to brush but I resist. I thought I’d never admit this, but I am looking forward to a bath and a hair cut. Susan wants one too, but I’m not sure she’d fit in Joni’s tub and she is definitely too big for the grooming table. Have you ever noticed that humans only have hair on their heads – strange, very strange!  Susan is in design mode, designing new covers for her books, a bit of writing is happening, not that much. The latest Katie story is progressing slowly and I see scribbles for a new historical novel. Now that is exciting. Well, folks, humans and canines, that’s it for this week. Stay safe enjoy the long weekend and read lots of books, particularly Susan’s books. The Blue Pendant Book 1 of the Sackville Hotel Trilogy will be on sale on Amazon in a few days.

Zooming!

As you know I’m a dog, sort of and when it suits me, Miss Penny speaking. Now, I’m a smart dog, we all know that. I can’t talk, not yet at least, but one day I’ll surprise Susan and answer her. Hee! Wouldn’t that be fun? Okay, back to my point. It’s the word zoom that has me confused. I am known to zoom around the park, zoom up a tree following squirrels, well not quite I get stuck at the bottom. The cars zoom by on Carling Avenue and Susan zooms into me when she’s taking pictures. Here’s my question, how can Susan have a zoom meeting? That’s what she’s doing today, having a Zoom meeting with the Historical Writing Ladies. No, they don’t zoom down the road nor do they zoom in the park and they certainly don’t chase squirrels up a tree; mind you, there’s a thought, they are taller than me and might catch a squirrel. I can’t say I’ve ever seen Susan climb a tree. However, pictures are involved because their pictures appear on Susan’s laptop; moving talking pictures. Now, this is very disconcerting. I know these ladies; they come to the house and drink tea, eat cakes and talk about writing, which involves petting me and sharing the cake with me. Do you see what I’m saying? If they are inside Susan’s laptop, Zooming, I can hear them but I don’t get petted and I don’t get cake. Does this have something to do with the corona thing? I guess so, Susan is nodding yes and it is time to tell you what she’s been up to this week.

The Amazon ad thing continues and that’s getting boring. But, this is exciting, Susan has designed a new cover for The Blue Pendant and if her readers like it she’ll redesign the other covers for the Sackville Hotel Trilogy (she already did a new cover for the box set). My parting wish today is for mothers, my own mom lives in Quebec.

So here’s a big Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers.

A New Pink Coat

It’s cold -5c, Susan said, and I didn’t believe her. Miss Penny speaking, even with my sweater on, which I hate, and it didn’t help much. Especially when I had to stick my butt in the snow for you-know-what. I shivered all the way around the block until Susan picked me up and cuddled me. Then she disappeared, I hate being left alone too, but she bought me a new coat. At first I sulked but this morning we walked to the park and I never shivered once. It is very smart, bright pink for a princess-dog, a fur-trimmed hood and a cozy fur lining (faux fur)

Except it had this label that said  For cats too, WHAT! Cats in coats, unbelievable!

Susan? Oh well, she’s been quiet this week, planning a new writing workshop, How to Write a Nonfiction Book for Your Business now that is changing gears from fiction.

If you are wondering about the next fiction book, it’s finished waiting for the editor, Believing her Lies another Lavender Cottage book. Katie and Piers are riddled with doubt, caused by a jealous misguided woman. I get to hear the story when Susan reads aloud, I’m working on the reading part. Bye for now! Over to Susan.

Remembrance Day! I love history but not always the effect it has on people. Researching WW1 for Prelude to Sophie’s War I became painfully aware of the stubbornness of powerful men that took so many lives, not just soldiers but innocent Londoners. Prelude to Sophie’s War tells of those innocent lives changed forever. https://books2read.com/u/mg0dpx

Squirly Squirrels!

Susan corrected me and said, ’squirly’ isn’t a word, Miss Penny speaking, I guess she would know as she’s the author. I like ‘squirly’ it describes the way the squirrels dart around in the grass and shimmy up trees. I try my hardest to catch them, I want to play, all furry things are playmates. But squirrels…. I can’t even get them to stop long enough to say hello. It doesn’t help that Susan keeps my leash very tight. If only she would let me run loose like the squirrels, I know I could catch up and maybe enjoy tasting an acorn or two. Now, this is neat, they hold nuts and acorns in their front paws and nibble on them. But it’s a mystery; why do they shove acorns in their mouth? It’s quite rude actually as they stash far too many in their cheeks. Susan says they store them to eat during the winter, they don’t have owners to feed them. Ah, that’s not good for the squirrels and as this is Thanksgiving weekend I am grateful that Susan feeds me every day. Perhaps I’ll catch squirrel today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don’t forget to come visit Susan at the Ottawa Book Expo at Lansdowne Park Oct 20th.

Radishes!

Can you see that little red ball? Miss Penny speaking, I had so much fun, Susan said it’s called a radish; what kind of name is that? It came to me from the sky, well not quite but from above my head, the kitchen counter. Susan was making a salad, yuck, veggies and things she says are good for you. I’ll stick to chicken and kibble. But this little red ball rolled around the floor and it had a little tail, Susan said it was the root, that I could grab with my teeth and throw it in the air and let it bounce and roll. I accidentally bit into it and what a shock I got, it burned my mouth so I spit it out. It rolled under the cupboard and I let it stay there. It was fun while it lasted. Susan is a little cranky, although she laughed at my radish antics, she had a new cover made for Christmas at lavender Cottage and I think the designer screwed up and now Susan’s worried she won’t have the books ready for Ottawa Book Expo on Oct 20th. However, there is good news she finished the first draft of book three of the Lavender Cottage Series. Doubts and rumours plague Katie and Piers’ romance. Will the love birds marry or part ways forever? Aren’t I naughty teasing you? If it helps, we do get the answer in this book. Susan’s searching for a title; what do you think of  Believing Truth or Lies ? It probably won’t be published until after Christmas, it has to be edited, formatted and a cover designed—I hope she has better luck with this book.

Bones – Episode 2

Do you like the title? Miss Penny Speaking, I think Susan’s writing talent is rubbing off on me as the bone story continues. It is summer and hot, very hot, so Susan and I work on the balcony, nine stories high with a gorgeous view of the Ottawa River and a lovely breeze. My bone is a Milkbone, doggy biscuits in the shape of a bone and just my size. I can take them out on the balcony, except there’s a big step and I can’t jump with it on my mouth without dropping it. So, I look cute and wag my happy tail, see the video, and Susan picks me up, but I drop the bone, anyway. It’s times like this that I realize I’m more person than dog. If that is true, then why doesn’t Susan eat Milkbones?  Not sure what Susan has been doing all week, there’s only one new announcement, but here’s one from me my first video. Cute & Happy Dog

What?

What’s that look for? Miss Penny speaking, I’m burying my bone. Susan gives me these tasty treats called Milkbones and sometimes I want to save it for later. I could leave it on the floor but then someone might steal it. Not sure who? Now I think about it, there’s only Susan in the apartment and I’ve never seen her chew a Milkbone. She should try one, they are delicious. I get them for treats and when Susan has her morning coffee. Psst! Susan has a cookie with her coffee and sometimes she has more than one.

Play and Away!

No breaking news today: Noisy construction has delayed video recordings. But check out episode 7 of The Blue Pendant – Nothing is Fair in Love and War

Play & Away!

I love my walks, but I wish I could walk without my leash. Miss Penny speaking, I also like to play and being attached to Susan means I can’t run after birds and squirrels. I am sure they would like to play but I can’t get to them. Yesterday a cute rabbit ran by me, it took me by surprise and I almost choked, Susan said it was my fault for pulling, I say its animal cruelty. I only want to play with the rabbit. It’s been boring here. Susan spent all week formatting the new book and it’s ready for the Arc readers, whatever that is? Oh, Susan says it’s free advanced copy for feedback prior to the launch. Contact Susan this week if you’re interested as she’ll be away at the OIW Writers Retreat next weekend. WHAT! Susan away? I don’t like the sound of that. Where am I going? This is serious I don’t like being away from Susan. I think it’s rude not to tell me. I wonder if I’m going to Rose and Pierre’s house, that wouldn’t be too bad.
