A SELECTION OF READER REVIEWS & COMMENTS
Thank you very much to all those who read, enjoyed and wrote a review(s) of my book(s). It’s the only way I know, if, you the reader, have enjoyed or maybe not, my work. I am flattered by the good reviews and do find them rewarding. However, a little criticism is just as good. It keeps me on my toes and helps me improve my craft. Whatever your comments – Thank you
Praise for Susan’s writing from Anne Grant lecturer at Institute for Writers. ” “Susan, you have one of the strongest senses of ‘story’ I’ve run across in quite some time. You truly astonish me with the wealth and breadth of the stories you come up with. Treasure that part of yourself because it is a gift and no one can take it away from you and it cannot be bought. Moreover, I cannot teach it, but I know it when I see it.”

Better Than Downton Abby! ☆☆☆☆☆1 Dec. 2015 By Angela – Kindle edition From the moment I opened The Blue Pendant I knew I was in for a ride. The characters are so well-developed, I could see the story unfolding like a movie in my head. What a brilliant story – not only of the lives of the people but of history, society and the events of the day. I loved it from start to finish. What a journey! This story is right up there with some of the best historical novels – a wonderful glimpse of the courage and determination – and love – that carried these families through some of the greatest social transformations in modern history. I can only hope that Ms. Jennings is writing a sequel.
Unbelievable story – I loved it! ☆☆☆☆☆ Feb. 2016 By Evelyn B. – Published on Amazon.com: Amazing book!!! Heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. Loved the characters, the history was spot on and it took over my life until I read the last page. Is there going to be a sequel?….I hope so!
BRILLIANT! ☆☆☆☆☆ 7 Dec. 2015 By Sally Richards – Published on Amazon.co.uk A brilliant read, I volunteered to be an ARC reader for this novel and was so glad I did. I was totally engaged with both the story and characters from the very first page right through to the end and can’t wait for a sequel. A must for anyone who enjoys historical novels. Highly recommend this book.
The story is gripping from the beginning to the end … ☆☆☆☆☆ Amazon Customer on 28 Dec. 2015 Paperback: The story is gripping from the beginning to the end, to the point that I read the book in an afternoon – I am now looking forward to reading the sequel!
THE BLUE PENDANT: The title, along with the Cover page art suggested to me, a historical romance novel. Indeed I found it to be so. This is not my usual genre of choice…but I surprisingly (to me) found it to be an easy read that retained my interest throughout. I would even venture to say that there were times when I had intended doing other things…but found myself reading this book instead! Being a first generation Canadian of Scottish and English heritage, I enjoyed the story setting of Edinburgh, the Scottish highlands and Toronto. I am of an age to be able to relate, at least in part to the times depicted here. The fiction that I read tends to transport me to another place, another time, and totally envelopes me in the lives and times of the characters in the book. Such was the case with The Blue Pendant. Anonymous.I have no idea who this person is, the review was delivered to me through an acquaintance.
Anna’s Legacy ☆☆☆☆☆ By sally richards on 4 Jun. 2017
Absolutely loved this sequel to The Blue Pendant and was captivated from the beginning, a real page turner. It’s 1948 and we see the return of newly weds Bill and Anna to Southampton to begin married life running The New Sackville Hotel and what a rollercoaster ride they are about to embark on. With plenty of secrets and hidden agendas this is a book you won’t want to put down.
Well done Ms Jennings look forward to book 3. I was lucky to be given an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Save Some for Me And what about you? A single mother’s memoir –
A heartrending story of one woman’s struggle to survive spousal abuse and, consequently, single parenthood. It is the story of undying determination to succeed and the courage to see her life culminate as the fairy tale, happily-ever-after of her childhood dreams. It has a happy ending, really; but in a different perspective. –Emily–Jane Hills Orford, award-winning author of The Whistling Bishop
It’s more than a story. This book is the evolution of a soul. Many of us have experienced the heart-wrenching struggle of losing a partner and raising children alone. The real journey involves moving beyond the anger, blame and pain to a place of peace. I have watched and read with joy as Susan Jennings did just that, and in having so, inspires us all.–Serena Williamson, Ph.D., (a.k.a Dr. Sharon Letovsky) President, Book Coach Press
Lavender Cottage Series – ***** Amazon: I loved all her characters, homey scenes of warm gatherings of friends and family, and beautiful descriptions of a quaint English waterside village. I look forward to the next book in the series. Kathleen
Amazon kindle : ***** Different personalities/characters makes an interesting story. One of those characters is a very snobbish female – until things happen. I did not care for the 2 speaking to a ‘ghost’ – I realize this is fiction but that is a little overboard & not needed.
