100 years old, I can’t get my head around that number, Miss Penny speaking. Susan’s mom was born on June 21st, 1920, 100 years ago and she looks fantastic. Betty lives in England, we met the last time she visited; she was 98 then and still travelling. Susan is a little sad as she should be with her mom, but because of this corona thing it’s not safe for her to travel. I’m sad too, not just for Susan, but because I go and stay with Rose when Susan’s away and they have a backyard and doggie neighbours. Oops! I digress. Everyone is trying to make a big celebration for Betty, within the corona limitations, and it isn’t easy. Something very strange is happening. People who would normally visit are Zooming on Susan’s laptop. Yes, you heard me, Zooming; I know it sounds like a cartoon or racing cars but its people. All these heads and voices pop up and talk away as though they were in the same room. A bit of cursing goes on when the line crackles and some people can’t get in the Zoom room and if you don’t behave you get kicked out. I’ve never seen that happen in Susan’s meetings. Anyway, what do I know I’m just a dog, sort of, but here’s the thing, Granny Betty can Zoom, honestly, I said hello to her yesterday; she is marvellous. Think about it? When she was born computers, internet any kind of technology except for telephones, was not even heard of and letters took weeks to cross the Atlantic and today we are Zooming. Yesterday was a practice run for today. I am very excited because today we are having a Zoom party and there will be people from Canada, USA, England and Costa Rica all celebrating. I still can’t get my head around 100 years. Happy Birthday Granny Betty, love from Miss Penny.
