Lake, Lily, Lola & Me!

I was greeted by Lily and Lola, huffing, puffing and snorting. They are happy bouncy Pugs, too bouncy.

I survived Thanksgiving weekend, sort of, it was close, Miss Penny speaking.

First, there was the packing and when it includes my bed I get nervous. Where is Susan going and more to the point where am I going?

Frank arrives and loads our stuff in his truck, I’m put in the truck, shaking because I still don’t know what’s happening.

Phew! It turned out okay. Susan gets in with me. I get to sit on her knee while Frank drives, I hate the car but I don’t mind the truck. We drive a long way until we get to the cottage.

I’m excited, this is the jackpot.

I sniff around, there must be squirrels here it’s like a big park and Lake Opinicon is massive, I wondered why Susan bought me a life jacket. I hope it’s precautionary as I’ve never been in the water.

We trot down to the cottage and that’s when everything changed. Stop!

I press my feet into the ground. I’m not going inside. I was greeted by Lily and Lola, huffing, puffing and snorting. They are happy bouncy Pugs, too bouncy. I like to be welcomed but they are too much.

I try to hide but they follow me. Lily is okay she sniffs and minds her own business but Lola never gives up. She sniffs my butt, not very ladylike, then she gets in my face. I think she wants to be friends but I’m not ready to trust her yet.

I didn’t eat for a whole day, I was so nervous, finally Susan took my dinner into the bedroom and closed the door. Thank goodness I was starving. Lola sat outside while I ate.

As you can see I’m a nervous wreck.

Susan protected me, although she did call me ‘a nervous Nellie,’. Psst! She could have done a better job and I was a bit jealous. Lola seemed to like Susan and kept coming on her knee, I didn’t like that especially when she leaned over, sniffing and snorting.

I stuck my nose in the air and turned away, curling up in the corner of the sofa. Next she is on top of the sofa crawling behind Susan to get to me. I scrambled up, jumping down but she followed me. I’m exhausted. Does she never sleep?

Looking so cute Lola Very deceptive

I’m adorable

Even the park like setting turned on me, the ground was covered in pine needles and they get stuck in my legs and paws. Shaking my paws didn’t help. The sticky sap made the needles stick like glue. I tried chewing it off but it tastes yucky.

We are home now and Susan enjoyed the weekend. It was fun having the family together. Susan says, there will be more visits to the cottage so I had better get used to Lola and make friends. All right, I’ll think about it.

Susan has been sympathetic but is complaining I didn’t mention any of our writing projects. Psst! Do me a favour and take a look at all her stuff. While you’re there catch up with my blogs.

Miss Penny Speaking, Susan's Readers Group

  1. Katherine says:

Teddy is sure that Miss Penny will welcome the news that on his walk yesterday he threatened to kill two obstreperous pugs. Of course he was merely responding to their attempt to break free from their handler and rip him and his human to pieces. They bounced, his human said, like overexcited electrons in a nuclear reactor on the verge of a meltdown.

    1. Susan says:

Finally, a fellow canine who understands. Thanks Teddy, You made both of us giggle at your description.
